Has Anyone Switched From Instagram to Pinterest and Seen Better Results?

Featured Replies

A founder shared an interesting thought about launching a premium homeware brand. They feel Instagram is becoming increasingly crowded, while Pinterest seems more suited to people actively planning purchases.

Has anyone shifted more of their marketing budget towards Pinterest and actually seen better results?

For homeware I can actually see Pinterest working really well. People are already looking for ideas before they buy.

I wouldn't switch everything though. I'd test it against Instagram and track actual sales + margin. Traffic is nice but it doesn't pay the bills ๐Ÿ˜…

Agree with this. Pinterest feels more like people are planning something, whereas Instagram is more โ€œoh that's niceโ€ and then you scroll on.

For anything visual I'd definitely give it a proper test before writing it off.

The bit I'd watch is what happens after the click.

Pinterest might send better-intent visitors but if the product page doesn't convert, you've not really solved much. I'd compare conversion rate, not just CPC.

This is one of those things where engagement can be a bit misleading.

Instagram can make you feel like you're doing loads because there's likes and comments everywhere. If Pinterest sends fewer people but more buyers, I'd take that every time.
