Overview: The Agile Innovation Fund is designed to support the development of innovative new or significantly enhanced products, services, or processes. This fund is ideal for projects with a total cost under €300,000 and offers a streamlined online application process with quick approval. It covers a broad range of projects, from solving technical challenges (Research and Development) to pioneering changes in service delivery or business models (Digital Process Innovation).

This fund is especially suitable for companies that are:

  • New to R&D
  • Operating in industries with rapid product turnover
  • Engaging in small-scale or short-term projects

Grant rates vary between 25% to 50%, dependent on the size of the company and the inclusion of collaborative elements. Applications can be submitted online at any time.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligible applicants include established, registered Irish manufacturing or internationally traded service companies with a positive EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation). Applicants must demonstrate sufficient cash resources to carry out the proposed project. Companies without a positive EBITDA should consult their Business Adviser at the relevant Development Agency.

Eligible projects may include:

  • Development of a new product or service
  • Enhancements to existing products or services
  • Digitisation or significant improvements to current processes or services
  • Acquisition of new knowledge or skills
  • Prototyping, testing, and validation of new or enhanced products or services
  • Routine updates to existing products or processes are not eligible.

  • Existing staff costs / New staff costs
  • Overheads
  • Materials
  • Consultancy
  • Travel and Subsistence
  • Certification and clinical trials
