Description of the subcontract works
1) Reinforced soil abutment TWs design required to support temporary bridge over A57 - see previous TWs drawing 0002
Rev C3 attached for solution similar to this we are looking to complete.
2) A57 TWs loadings as per PDF annotated drawing attached "A57 Mottram - Temporary Bridge Reinforced Abutment
LOADS Rev 1"
3) Main loads to note are:
i. RC bankseat located on top of reinforced soil abutment - see TWs drawing 0011 Rev P1 attached from
other scheme for 70m clear span temporary bridge, assume RC bankseat 1m deep subject to TWs
detailed design
ii. Assume PLAN area RC bankseat = 10m (transversally across temporary bridge) x 2m (along long
length temporary bridge) = 20m2
iii. MAX GBP, Z vertical @ 110kN/m2
iv. MAX horizonal load, X @ 726kN
4) Temporary bridge to have 6.00m headroom clearance to soffit bridge deck with deflection from existing carriageway level
5) Reinforced soil abutment height = 1m buried below egl + 5m above egl + 0.4m temporary bridge deflection (assumed) =
6.4m height
6) 1m road side face reinforced soil abutment to face RC bankseat
7) 2m non-road side face (not approach ramp side) to face RC bankseat
8) Reinforced soil abutment faces to be vertical or nearly
9) PLAN area main block reinforced soil abutments = 14m (East to West) x 8m (North to South), distance to required geogrid
tail length
10) TWs design life < 2 years
11) Reinforced soil abutment fill 6F5 quarried material (preferable)
12) Price to include TWs design and materials supply ONLY
13) Suggested installers information to be passed on for BB to contact to discuss installation
14) Price to also include for:
i. AIP TWs input for temporary bridge reinforced soil abutments element
ii. AIP DRN comments reply support to temporary bridge reinforced soil abutments element
iii. AIP Certificate review and signature (CEng MICE signature required)
iv. GDR input
v. TWs design calculations - provision of these on completion of TWs design
vi. TWs CAT 3 Check comment support to temporary bridge reinforced soil abutments element
