What to Build

The core challenge is: Code for Empowerment.

Build a prototype that fosters inclusion, amplifies underrepresented voices, or breaks down barriers to access, education, or opportunity. The challenge is about using tech as a tool for positive change. No matter how small or simple, your project should help someone feel seen, heard, or supported.

🌟 Special Challenges Special Challenge 1: Code to Startup

Build a prototype that could be the foundation of a real startup idea. The focus is not just on coding but on problem-solving, business thinking, and storytelling.

  • Identify a clear problem your project addresses
  • Show how your prototype solves it
  • Pitch why it could grow into something bigger

Prize: πŸ’° $160 per team

Special Challenge 2: Prototyping Random API

Brought to you by Prototyp3 Network
Find any free public API (NASA, PokΓ©mon, jokes, weather… whatever you choose) and build a quick prototype around it.

Your project must include all of the following:

  • At least one user interaction (e.g., button, search) that changes the data output
  • Combining two or more APIs in a creative way
  • Adding a data visualization (graph, map, or animation) to showcase your results
  • Deploying your prototype so it’s live and shareable

We’re looking for creativity in how you take random data and turn it into something fun, useful, or surprising!

Prize: πŸ’° $100 per team

πŸ“€ What to Submit
  • A GitHub Link (Mandatory)
  • Challenges / Themes you’re submitting for
  • Design documents – Figma files, diagrams, PPTs, etc.
  • A pitch deck (Optional)

βœ… Make sure your submission clearly shows your project’s purpose, design, and impact!
