2025 HackSC Hackathon

About the challenge

Welcome to HackSC x Lovable x a16z LA Tech Week 2025! We are hosting a week-long online hackathon from Mon, Oct 13 to Sun, Oct 19. We will be hosting an in-person Opening Ceremony from 8pm-10pm on Monday and students will have until Sunday at 12pm to submit their projects. A panel of judges will review them from 12pm-4pm. We will invite the best projects to demo in person at our closing ceremony from 2-4pm, where we will also hand out prizes. We aim for our hackers to combine innovation, creativity, and education to create a unique product. Whether you're a team of beginners or experienced coders, utilize your experiences to help bring their ideas to life!

• Technological complexity
  • How challenging was it for the team to complete in the week-long window? • Is the project technologically impressive? Complex? Does it seem remarkable that someone could achieve this hack in just a week?
• Functionality
  • How functional is this hack at the time of the demo? • Completeness - has the team thought through and/or planned how to develop and launch/release their product? • Is the project realistic?
• Feasibility
  • How practical and achievable is the hack idea being presented (considering the week-long window, technology, and other resources)? Is it scalable?
• “Wow factor”
  • Impressiveness - How original is the idea? • Creativity - Has this hack been done before? Does this project make others think this is a really cool idea and question why they didn't think of it before?
• Passion
  • How excited and passionate is the team about solving the problem they chose?
• Vertical Alignment
  This year, we have five verticals: • Best Beginner Hack, Best Use of Lovable, Most Viable Product, Best Integration of AI Agents, Best Use of AI for Social Good
