Description

Costain have been appointed to deliver contract HRS02, the Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical and Electrical services for HS2 ltd. A high-speed railway project that connects London to Birmingham with plans to extend in the future.

Package 24 Acoustic Testing scope for contract HRS02 consists of acoustic testing within the tunnels, portal buildings, headhouses and surrounding areas of the railway, the route being circa 180 km in length, inclusive of;

- Factory Acceptance Testing of Ventilation Equipment Acoustic Testing
- In Tunnel Acoustic Testing
- External Ambient Acoustic Testing
- Equipment Room Acoustic Testing

Costain require a supplier for design and execution only of the acoustic testing. Costain and HS2 are looking for innovative and smart solutions that provide benefits in the following key areas;

- Health and Safety
- Programme - Installation and commissioning efficiency
- Cost
- Quality and Assurance efficiency
- Whole life cost
- Carbon efficiency

All the innovation and design development must be accompanied with a rigorous approach to ensuring that the technical requirements are met. Including testing, where necessary. The scope of the design and supply will include the following;

- Support to Costain's design partner through concept and detailed design
- Noise analysis, modelling and calculations
- Testing of products and arrangements
- Commissioning support, as required

Full details of the scope and specifications will be provided to the successfully shortlisted suppliers. Suppliers should be aware of the scale of the HS2 project and are to assess their internal capabilities to be able to carry out the intended scope of works prior to completing the expression of interest.
