Show off your JavaScript skills and creativity by building a 2D pixel RPG game with the Maki framework!

The Maki Hackathon 2026 is a beginner-friendly online event designed to help students explore game development through JavaScript, creativity, and storytelling.

No prior game development experience is required. This is your chance to build something fun and share it with the community.

 

Using the Maki framework, participants will create a 2D pixel RPG game and submit their project through a public GitHub repository.

Your game can be creative, funny, educational, entertaining, or community-focused. You are encouraged to experiment with characters, stories, maps, quests, dialogue, and gameplay mechanics

 

What to Submit

Participants must submit:

A public GitHub repository containing their Maki game project.

Video of the game :))

 

Your submission should include clear instructions on how to run the game.
