BOSS Codefest is a student-led hackathon available to students at Bur Oak Secondary School. The goal of this hackathon is to empower students to learn more about software development through creating projects with teams and pitching them to a panel of teacher judges.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity
    Is this project a unique idea or a significant twist on an existing solution? Did the team implement unique and creative solutions to problem(s)?
  • Complexity
    Is this project something that could easily be replicated given a few prompts to an AI model? Did the team implement complex algorithms, complex states, or similarly difficult components?
  • Impact
    How well does the project align with the hackathon topic? How feasible would this project be as a real product?
  • Design
    Does the project have a consistent theme and appearance? Is the project accessible? Does the project follow good user experience principles?
  • Pitch
    Did the team clearly define a problem and how their project addresses this problem? Did the presenters speak clearly and communicate technical details simply?
