Up to €4 Million for Innovations Tackling Poverty & Inequality – FID

The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) provides staged grant funding to organisations developing, testing, evaluating and scaling innovative solutions that improve the lives of people experiencing poverty. Projects can come from any sector, provided they are implemented in an eligible low- or middle-income country.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Pilot funding: up to €200,000

• Impact Evaluation funding: up to €1.5 million

• Scale Up funding: up to €4 million

• Innovation & Public Policy: up to €500,000

• Evidence & Public Policy: up to €500,000

• Funding for solutions across any sector

• Support for testing innovations in real-world conditions

• Funding for rigorous impact evaluation

• Major funding to scale solutions that have already demonstrated impact

• Projects are assessed on potential impact, cost-effectiveness and their ability to scale sustainably.

FID also has Preparation grants of up to €50,000, although these are currently being redesigned and are expected to reopen in 2027.

Who can apply?

• NGOs and nonprofit organisations

• Companies and businesses

• Universities

• Research institutions

• Public institutions

• Other legally constituted organisations

• Organisations can apply individually or as part of a consortium

• Applicants can be registered anywhere, but projects must generally be implemented in an OECD DAC-eligible low- or middle-income country

• Individuals and international/multilateral organisations aren't eligible

• Emergency humanitarian aid and standalone infrastructure projects aren't funded.
