Up to £595,000+ for Public Sector Innovation – CivTech Scotland

The CivTech programme connects entrepreneurs, startups and established businesses with Scottish public and third-sector organisations that have real problems they need solved. Applicants propose innovative solutions and successful teams progress through paid development stages.

Here’s what you can expect:

• £5,000 payment for teams selected for the three-week Exploration Stage

• £40,000 for teams successfully completing the 15-week Accelerator Stage

• No equity taken by CivTech or the Challenge Sponsor

• Participating companies retain their intellectual property, subject to licensing arrangements with the Challenge Sponsor

• Business-development workshops and public-sector commercialisation support

• Opportunity to develop a Minimum Viable Product alongside a real public-sector customer

• Potential further Pre-Commercial contracts normally negotiable up to £595,000, although individual Challenge caps can be lower or higher

• Further commercial contracts are not guaranteed.

Who can apply?

• Startups and SMEs

• Established companies

• Individuals with an innovative idea

• Graduate teams

• Applicants do not need to be based in Scotland

• You don't initially need to have formed a company

• Applicants need to propose an innovative solution to one of CivTech's published Challenges

• Teams progressing to the Accelerator must establish a formal company.
