Contribute. Collaborate. Create Impact.
Open Source Impact is a contribution-driven open source hackathon organized to give developers and students a practical opportunity to contribute to real-world software projects through GitHub.
Instead of building a project from scratch, participants will work on active open-source integration opportunities, claim a task, understand the required functionality, implement the integration, test their work, and contribute it back to the project through a Pull Request.
Participants will follow a simple journey:
Discover → Claim → Build → Test → Submit → Get Verified → Earn
How It Works-
Create or use your GitHub account
GitHub will be used throughout the contribution process. -
Explore available OSS opportunities
Find an active integration or contribution opportunity provided for the hackathon. -
Claim an integration
Review the requirements and claim the integration you want to work on. -
Build the integration
Clone the repository, study the required API/functionality, follow the project's contribution guidelines, and implement the required changes. -
Test your work
Make sure your implementation works correctly and meets the requirements. -
Create a Pull Request
Push your changes to GitHub and open a clear Pull Request against the project repository. -
Submit your contribution
Submit your GitHub Issue and Pull Request details through the required tracking forms. -
Verification & Reward
Contributions will be reviewed and verified according to the hackathon requirements. Eligible verified contributions will receive the announced reward.

Whether you're an experienced developer or a student making your first serious open-source contribution, Open Source Impact is about taking your skills beyond tutorials and putting them into real projects.
One contribution can be small. Its impact can be much bigger.
Requirements
To complete your Open Source Impact submission, participants must provide evidence of a genuine open-source contribution.
Mandatory Requirements1. GitHub Account
Participants must have an active GitHub account.
2. Claimed Integration
Participants must select and claim an eligible open-source integration/task before beginning their work.
3. GitHub Issue
Follow the project's issue requirements. If an issue already exists, use the relevant issue; otherwise, create the required issue according to the project's contribution guidelines.
4. Working Implementation
Participants must implement the required integration/functionality according to the task requirements and the project's coding conventions.
5. Testing
The submitted work must be tested locally and should demonstrate that the required functionality works as expected.
6. Pull Request
Participants must push their changes to GitHub and create a Pull Request against the designated repository.
The Pull Request should include:

A clear description of the implementation

What was changed
-
Relevant testing details
-
Any additional information required by the project
7. Hackathon Submission
Participants must submit:

GitHub profile
-
Claimed integration/task
-
GitHub Issue link
-
GitHub Pull Request link
-
Brief description of the work completed
-
Testing details or evidence, where applicable
8. Contribution Tracking
The same Pull Request link must be submitted through the designated contribution-tracking form so that the contribution can be verified.
Only genuine, eligible contributions that satisfy the stated requirements will be considered for verification and rewards.
Participants should read the requirements and available time window for their selected integration before claiming it. Choose a contribution that you can realistically complete within the available timeframe.
