Hello,

I recently started pitching my startup. My question is how much should we focus on the founders and how much should we focus on the problem?

Great question! The balance between founders and problem depends on the stage of your startup and the audience you're pitching to. a rule of thumb for early stage businessesย

  • 60-70% Problem & Solution โ€“ Investors want to see a clear, urgent problem with a strong market opportunity. They need to believe itโ€™s worth solving.
  • 30-40% Founders โ€“ Early-stage investors bet heavily on the team because execution is everything.

I've never heard of focusing on the founders.ย  Do you have an example of a pitch that includes such a focus?ย  I'd be interested in incorporating it.ย ย
