The Climate Intervention Environmental Impact Fund (CIEIF) is offering grants to innovative climate projects around the world that are preparing to test technologies capable of addressing the causes or major effects of global warming.
The funding is specifically designed to help projects understand the potential environmental and social impacts of new climate technologies before field testing takes place.

$75,000 in grant funding per successful project
Three grants available in the current funding round

Private businesses developing innovative climate-intervention technologies
Qualified investigators and project teams around the world
Projects approaching the stage where a small-scale field test can take place
Projects that can demonstrate potential to scale and create meaningful climate benefits
Applicants willing to publish their results through a peer-reviewed journal or independently peer-reviewed report
Priority is given to nonprofit organisations and academic institutions.
International projects are eligible, although projects outside the US may receive higher priority where they have a US nonprofit partner able to accept the grant as a donation.
Eligible technologies can include areas such as:
Biochar
Enhanced rock weathering
Methane removal
Marine carbon dioxide removal
Ocean fertilisation and other ocean interventions
Agricultural methane interventions
Ice and land albedo technologies
Greenhouse gas removal technologies
Other innovative climate interventions
The fund does not support general climate adaptation, clean energy, climate resilience, emissions reduction or sustainable development projects. It also excludes Direct Air Capture (DAC), Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), individuals and student projects.
Funding: $75,000 per successful project, with three grants available.
Deadline: 1 December 2026
Successful applicants are expected to be announced by 1 February 2027.
