Description
The Mode Shift Revenue Support Grant (MSRS) and Waterborne Freight Grant (WFG), are two unique initiatives designed to assist companies with the operating costs associated with shifting to rail or inland water freight transport. Backed by the Department for Transport, Transport Scotland, and the Welsh Government, these funds aim at promoting a more sustainable and cost-efficient use of the transportation network across England, Wales, and Scotland.
The MSRS and WFG are considered transformative in the freight transport industry, encouraging companies to choose more sustainable methods of transport over roadways. By doing this, they are designed to enhance the efficiency of the transportation network and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Bids for these grants can be made four times per financial year, and applications are assessed based on Benefit Cost Ratio or financial viability.
