At Toptal, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who goes beyond simple UI testing. In this role, you will be responsible for validating the data engines that power our Life Insurance and Annuity products. Using modern AI tools, you will write test scripts efficiently and leverage frameworks like Playwright to ensure accurate and reliable configurations.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage complex data sets to test insurance quoting engines and logic.
  • Understand data flow, data maintenance, and how configuration changes impact system output.
  • Use AI coding assistants to write and optimize automated test scripts efficiently.
  • Build and execute automated test scripts using Playwright (primary) and contribute towards incorporating Selenium in the future.
  • Organize and track testing cycles using Zephyr within the Atlassian/Jira ecosystem.
  • Analyze business problems to understand the "how" and "why" and design tests that proactively uncover system weaknesses.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Life Insurance or Annuities is highly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Playwright and Zephyr.
  • Familiarity with Selenium is a plus.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate coding and problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of SQL/SOQL to query data and validate backend logic.
  • Native-level English proficiency to collaborate effectively in a high-touch, in-person environment.
