Startup Networks Platform Update πŸš€

Featured Replies

Over the past few days, we’ve been making some major improvements across Startup Networks to make the community cleaner, faster, and far easier to navigate.

Here’s what’s changed:

  • Revamped our entire forum structure

  • Added new forums and reorganised categories

  • Merged overlapping sub-forums to reduce confusion

  • Simplified the menu/navigation system

  • Reduced ad clutter across the platform to improve readability and user experience

  • Improved overall flow so it’s easier to find discussions, opportunities, events, funding support, and founder resources

A big focus for us going forwards is quality over noise.

As the community grows, we want Startup Networks to feel less overwhelming and more useful β€” whether you’re here to raise funding, meet other founders, find support, or simply learn from people building businesses themselves.

There’s still a lot more coming over the next few months, including:

  • Better founder discovery

  • Improved startup profiles

  • Smarter content organisation

  • More local and international opportunities

  • New community initiatives and partnerships

Thanks to everyone continuing to support the platform, give feedback, report issues, and contribute discussions. The growth lately has been incredible to watch.

More updates soon πŸ‘€

Quick update on what's been shipped today:

We've continued pushing improvements across the site, this time focusing on the visual experience and making the platform feel more polished.

Here's what went live today:

New navigation system β€” The forum category tabs have been completely redesigned. Each forum now has its own colour identity with a cleaner, more compact layout that works properly across light and dark mode. No more oversized coloured blocks.

Dark mode actually works now β€” Every custom element on the site now properly flips between light and dark mode in real-time when you toggle it. No more white boxes on dark backgrounds or invisible text. This was a big one.

Newsletter signup redesigned β€” The old form has been replaced with a sleek inline bar that sits cleanly on the page. When you subscribe, you get an achievement-style popup (yes, with a sound effect and a progress bar). It's a small thing but it makes the experience feel more alive.

Trusted by section β€” New compact bar showing our partners (TikTok, Goldsmiths, Startups Magazine, Barclays) in a cleaner format that matches the rest of the site.

Mission statement added β€” A small but visible reminder of what we're building and why, right on the homepage.

Floating action bar β€” A "New topic" button and "Back to top" shortcut now float at the bottom of the screen as you scroll, so you can always start a discussion or jump back up without hunting for buttons.

Forum page sidebars β€” Discussion pages now have sidebar cards for quick forum navigation, community rules, and an about section. Previously there was nothing there.

Performance improvements β€” Consolidated a bunch of background scripts that were running separately into one unified system. The site should feel noticeably snappier, especially on pages with multiple custom elements.

All of these changes also work on mobile.

There's more in the pipeline but wanted to get this batch live and stable first. As always, if anything looks off or broken, let us know. πŸ› οΈ
