How do I stay sane and avoid depression while running a startup?

Running a startup is incredibly challenging, and it's normal to feel overwhelmed at times.

As many of you know, I had a serious accident last year that left me hospitalised for a long time. The experience was massively traumatic, and I've been dealing with depression while trying to run Startup Networks. It's tough, and sometimes it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.

Here are some things that are actively helping me, and I hope they can help you too:

  • Prioritise Self-Care: Make sure to take breaks, get enough sleep, and maintain a healthy diet. Exercise can also significantly improve your mental well-being.
  • Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with supportive friends, family, and mentors who understand what you're going through and can offer encouragement.
  • Set Realistic Goals: Break down your tasks into manageable pieces and set achievable goals to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
  • Seek Professional Help: Don’t hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional if you’re struggling. Therapy can provide valuable tools and coping strategies.
