Building Venued in Munich

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I'm Alara, based in Munich.

I'm one of three co-founders of Venued, a marketplace for people who run public events every month: a monthly party, a weekly run club, a supper club. They book the venue, the DJ and the production in one place, sell the tickets, then scan guests in at the door. That scan becomes verified footfall, then the venue's and the artist's review, and that is what gets them rebooked next month.

We built it ourselves around jobs and studies, and have been live in Munich since June. Still small, but the whole loop runs end to end.

Next 12 months: ten organisers running monthly, proof that they rebook, then Berlin.

What I'd most like help with: we keep hearing the events space is crowded and our differentiation isn't clear enough. I think the answer is the loop rather than the feature list, but I haven't found the way to make that land with someone who has seen forty event startups. If you've cracked a two sided cold start, or shown defensibility before you had the data to prove it, I'd love to hear how. Also keen to meet founders building local marketplaces, and anyone who has been on either side of a first angel round in Europe.

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome, Alara! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I really like the idea behind Venued, especially turning actual footfall into something that helps organisers get booked again. Hope you meet some founders here whoโ€™ve tackled similar marketplace challenges! ๐Ÿ’ช
