Hey Richelle, welcome to the community! 😊

Love what you're doing with Passing the Baton CIC. What inspired you to start it? Would love to hear the story behind it!

Good Morning Duane

For many Years I dreamed, had visions about working in Africa, teaching, mentoring facilitating growth in young people.

That vision became real during my first visit to Ghana in October 2021; approximately 6 weeks prior to my first holiday to Ghana I felt an overwhelming desire and urgency that 'There was work to Do' I had to commit to young people whilst I was there; I reached out to the CEO of Ubele Initiative who gave me my first contact which opened the first door for me in Ghana.

I engaged and delivered a session during their first meeting since the 'Coronovirus Lockdown' we explored mental health, menstrual health & hygiene STI's with over 100 girls and youth workers in Akosombo. Their thirst for knowledge, eagerness to learn and desire to grow deeply moved me. It reminded me that potential exists everywhere, but opportunity and access to knowledge are not always equal.

My inspiration for establishing Passing the Baton CIC came from a deep desire to use my skills, knowledge and experience to empower young people, helping them recognise their potential and access opportunities for growth. Someone I greatly admire, life coach Tony Dada, (DADA Success Academy) encouraged me to see how establishing an organisation could open doors, extend my reach and enable me to make a greater impact locally and internationally.

That experience helped turn my passion into purpose. Passing the Baton CIC was established to bridge those gaps through empowerment, mentoring, education and meaningful partnerships, creating opportunities for individuals and communities to build brighter futures. We return to Ghana every year to deliver youth programs. please view our website, Passing The Baton | Join Us Today
