SHINE Labs - Flexible Solar Everywhere

Featured Replies

Ray Lewandowski, Founder and CEO, SHINE Labs (Austin, TX - Arcadia, CA)

I have spent 30+ years commercializing renewable energy, thin-film optics using R2R vacuum coating, UV Casting and specialty printing/coating processes, including running WaveFront Technology as EVP/GM and US Operations and Technology Development at Power Roll Ltd. SHINE Labs builds on that experience.

We are developing roll-to-roll flexible perovskite solar on PET, using microgroove architecture under a license to 120+ global patents. Our research runs through Dr. Brian Korgelโ€™s lab at UT Austin. We are members of the SPF2050 NSF I/UCRC.

Two products:

  • SHINE Flex targets terrestrial markets: canopies, RVs, and transport. Target is 15%+ PCE at 6-8 cents/W. We have a signed LOI for first demo trials. TRL 3-4.

  • SHINE APEX targets space. Target is 12%+ PCE with radiation hardening for proton, electron, UV, and vacuum exposure. We have early prototypes of APEX and are at are TRL 3. A provisional patent on the space-capable architecture is drafted.

We are raising a $1M SAFE to commission our vacuum coater and spray coating system at UT Austin and build the data package that strategic partners and investors will diligence.

What I need:

  1. Angels and funds who back hardware, space, or defense-adjacent cleantech and can move at pre-seed speed.

  2. Introductions to canopy, RV, and transport OEMs willing to run demo trials.

  3. Space integrators and smallsat builders open to development partnerships.

  4. Patent counsel with space or thin-film PV experience for 1-2 provisional filings.

If you are building in energy, space, or advanced manufacturing, tell me what you need and I will respond.
