How Did You Know Your Startup Idea Was Worth Pursuing?

Featured Replies

I've got a bad habit of getting excited about an idea and immediately wanting to build it. I'm guessing I'm not the only one. ๐Ÿ˜…

But how do you actually know when an idea is worth pursuing?

I can ask friends and they'll probably be nice about it. A few people saying "I'd definitely use that" doesn't exactly prove much either.

For those who've been through this, what was the first thing that made you think, okay, there might actually be a business here?

Did someone pay? Did you struggle to find people with the problem? Or did you build something first and realise you'd got it wrong?

Would love to hear the honest versions, including the ideas you ended up dropping.

I learned this one the hard way. Built a working prototype, showed it to people, got some nice feedback... and then nobody used it.

The problem wasn't the tech. The problem just wasn't painful enough for anyone to bother changing what they were already doing.

Now I ask people how they deal with the problem before I even think about building anything.

Keep going brother! ๐Ÿ’ช
