Hello all! Moulaye, writing from Johannesburg.

Thirty years in development finance, mostly with the Red Cross across Africa, including the Ebola response in Sierra Leone. I kept watching good organisations collapse when a funding cycle ended, not because the work was weak, but because the systems underneath it never existed.

So, Iโ€™m building Civitas: B2B SaaS that installs governance, financial and impact systems inside African civil society organisations, paid for by the funders who already spend to strengthen them. Five pilots done; first cohort of 20 launches January.

Pre-seed, founder-funded. Would love to talk to anyone whoโ€™s scaled B2B SaaS into African markets, and to seed investors who back infrastructure over consumer apps.

Happy to help on anything finance, governance or Africa-ops in return.

Welcome Moulaye!

The interesting bit is that the organisations use Civitas, but the funders pay for it. That sounds like two very different groups to convince!

Have you found that funders are already asking for this, or are you having to make the case for it?

Might be worth a look at this discussion on creating a winning grant proposal too.

Hope to see you around more often on the forum :)
