I Hired Someone to Take Work Off My Plate. How am i busier now!?!

Featured Replies

I genuinely thought hiring someone would give me my time back.

Instead, I now have someone else's questions, work to review, tasks to explain and about 15 new things to think about.

I'm not complaining. They're genuinely helpful, and I knew there would be an adjustment period.

But I didn't realise how much time it would take to teach someone how I do things.

I'm starting to wonder whether I made the mistake of hiring too late, when everything was already happening in my head and nowhere else.

For those who've hired their first employee or assistant, how long did it take before things actually became easier?

Please tell me it gets better. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I reckon part of the problem is that you've hired someone before getting the processes out of your own head.

It's easy to forget how much stuff you do automatically until you have to explain it to someone else. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'd start documenting the repeatable tasks, even roughly. Otherwise you'll end up answering the same questions every week.
