Are you ready to co-create a game-changing technology that transforms industrial water recycling? Deep Science Ventures (DSV) is seeking a Founder in Residence to join forces with our team and a fellow founder to establish a company that redefines industrial wastewater treatment using cutting-edge plasma technology.

Our innovative approach delivers rapid, compact, and highly efficient solutions for hazardous effluent treatment across industries such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, food and beverage, chemicals, and paper manufacturing.

About the Role

As a co-founder, you will lead the development of this transformative venture from concept to spinout. Working closely with DSV and your co-founder, you’ll co-create a technology that dramatically improves water management systems, delivering both environmental impact and commercial value. Upon spinout, you and your co-founders will retain a majority equity stake in the business and continue to receive comprehensive support from DSV.

This is a full-time role that begins remotely, with potential relocation following venture incorporation (anticipated mid- to late-2025).

Why This Matters

Industrial processes account for 40% of water use in industrialised nations, with demand increasing as freshwater supplies dwindle due to overuse and contamination. Traditional water treatment methods struggle to meet these challenges, proving inefficient, costly, and unsustainable.

Our plasma-based wastewater treatment concept addresses these pain points by offering a compact system that rapidly processes concentrated effluents. Key benefits include:

  • Eliminating the production of toxic sludge.
  • Destroying persistent pollutants.
  • Reducing fouling risks.
  • Generating valuable byproducts.

This technology delivers fast, cost-effective solutions for industries worldwide, alleviating bottlenecks and reducing operational costs while promoting sustainable water use.

Who Should Apply

We’re looking for a technically skilled and visionary co-founder with experience in engineering (e.g., process, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic) and wastewater management systems. Familiarity with plasma technology and connections to industries like oil and gas, chemicals, or paper manufacturing is particularly valuable.

Ideal candidates will have expertise in:

  • Plasma Systems: Designing and developing plasma-based technologies for industrial applications.
  • Wastewater Management: Developing and implementing industrial waste treatment systems.
  • Engineering and Prototyping: Building and testing technologies from concept to operational prototypes.
  • Procurement and Project Management: Sourcing specialised components and overseeing complex engineering projects.

Personal Attributes We Value:

  • Detail-oriented and conscientious.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Creative problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
  • Collaborative, empathetic, and open to diverse perspectives.
  • Growth-minded and adaptable.

What We Offer

As part of DSV, you’ll benefit from:

  • Pre-Seed Funding: Up to Β£250,000 to establish your venture and generate proof-of-concept data.
  • Income Security: A consultancy fee of Β£4,166 per month until the company is incorporated.
  • Equity Ownership: A majority stake shared with your co-founders.
  • Expert Support: Access to DSV’s proprietary tools, advisors, and resources.
  • Ongoing Assistance: Post-spinout support for fundraising, partnerships, recruitment, and more.
  • Collaborative Community: Join a network of founders tackling challenges across multiple sectors.
