Bruntwood SciTech's Alderley Park boasts over 1 million square feet of cutting-edge office and laboratory space, nurturing a dynamic and expanding community of enterprises in the life sciences and technology sectors. The park is home to over 250 companies, ranging from start-ups to scale-ups, including prestigious organisations like Cancer Research UK and the Medicines Discovery Catapult.
In the framework of its ยฃ247 million development strategy, the Park saw a ยฃ3.8 million investment in 2023 to refurbish 35,000 square feet of workspace on the campus. This complements the ยฃ20 million investment from 2022, which added 86,000 square feet of new biology and chemistry laboratories, offering additional capacity for growing businesses.
Scale-up residents at Alderley Park benefit from its adaptable infrastructure and scientific amenities, equipping them with the necessary resources to expand. The park features coworking laboratories with access to specialized equipment, managed by a skilled lab team, facilitating an efficient and economical setup. This includes specialized suites for activities ranging from surgery to level 2 containment, bio-imaging, and exclusive vivarium spaces.
The campus accelerator provides tailored workshops, individual support sessions, and expertise for scale-up entrepreneurs and leaders. These workshops focus on overcoming scaling challenges, enhancing leadership skills, and aiding in finance acquisition and international market expansion.
In 2023, Bruntwood SciTech inaugurated the Biospheric Network at Alderley Park, aimed at bolstering the growth of on-site scale-ups. This initiative connects established entrepreneurs and senior executives who offer funded, growth-focused support, including financial access, in-depth sector-specific networking, and business consultancy, particularly to the most promising firms in the life science field.
Additionally, life science enterprises at Alderley Park and in the surrounding area have the opportunity to pitch for funding ranging from ยฃ50,000 to ยฃ2 million through the Greater Manchester & Cheshire Life Science Fund. This fund is managed by Praetura and supported by Bruntwood SciTech, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
