About the challenge

The DaVinci Competition is a 3-day in-person startup competition at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) that is a unique blend between a pitch competition and a hackathon. You will get 48-hours to build a product and pitch it to industry-experts! This takes place from Jan. 23th to Jan. 25th. 

This competition is designed to be a unique experience, blending elements from startup competitions, hackathons, and pitch competitions. The details of the competition will be elaborated below. Additionally, we also have the unique objective of bridging the disciplines of Management and Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. With that being said, our competition theme for this year will be: How might you use technology to innovate the business technology industry?

Categories include Sustainibility, Artificial Intelligence, Web3, and B2B products. Winners of each category will also receive a prize.

Requirements

What to Build

Our competition theme for this year is: How might you use technology to innovate the business technology industry? Categories include Sustainibility, Artificial Intelligence, Web3, and B2B products. Prototype, web application, mobile app, anything goes! And don't forget to refine your pitch :D

What to Submit

Participants have to submit:

  1. GitHub repository (including steps to run) 
  2. Pitch slides
  3. A written summary of the product
    1. Must include team members and contributions
    2. Must decalre categories they want to be a part of to be considered for the category prize
  4. demo video of the product (optional, but strongly recommended)

Please submit before 9:00am on Jan. 25th.

  • Uniqueness in the Market
    The pitch presents an outstandingly unique or differentiated product, with exceptional evidence of a competitive advantage, and an exceptional level of potential for success in the market. Max 5 points.
  • Market Potential
    The pitch demonstrates an outstanding understanding of the target market, with compelling evidence that there is a large and profitable market for the product, and a well-defined strategy for capturing that market. Max 5 points.
  • Technology
    The pitch presents an outstanding technology solution, with exceptional innovation, feasibility, and effectiveness, and an exceptional level of quality in the product design or prototype. Max 5 points.
  • Presentation
    The speaker delivers an outstanding presentation, with exceptional communication skills, a clear and compelling message, and a strong ability to connect with and inspire the audience. Max 5 points.
  • Clarity
    The pitch presents an outstanding problem statement, with exceptional clarity, relatability, and evidence to support the need for the product, and a compelling explanation of how the product solves the problem. Max 5 points.
