About the challenge
Women in Tech's Sunflower Hack is back and will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2026!
Sunflower Hack aims to develop its participantsβ skills in team development, creative thinking, and efficiency. Beginner friendly and low pressure, this is a great chance for computer science, information systems, business analytics, and other majors alike to gain experience working with a team under a time restraint and presenting a final product to a panel of judges.Participants will be given the chance to interact with each other before the event to form their teams of 2 to 4. Each team will be given 4 hours (time from check-in to the end) to develop an idea based on the theme (TBA). There will be a total of 5 winning teams. Each participant in the winning teams will receive a prize. Winners will be chosen for each criteria, as well as one that fits all of them the best:
- Creativity
- Originality
- Feasibility
- Impact

Requirements
What to Build
Projects should focus on addressing the theme (TBA). Participants are encouraged to build solutions that raise awareness, reduce environmental impact, or promote sustainable practices.
What to Submit
A presentation explaining the functionality of the app and a video demo.
