About the challenge

Welcome to the IMSA.ai Hackathon! You will have a week to code a real-world project based on the theme of educational technology. The event is made to be accessible to students of all programming levels, whether you just learned or have been coding for years, as you are allowed to use AI tools to further your development. Throughout the event, there will be multiple workshops to help you with your project development. At the end of the week, you will submit a live video demonstration and pitch of your project! The winning projects will receive cash prizes.

Get started

The first thing you should do is come up with a monetizable idea for a product that can help students using technology (and would be feasible to build in a week)! Then, choose a tech stack and start building. If you don't know where to begin, check out the Resources section or come to our Intro Workshop on 4/28!

Requirements

What to Build

You will be building a software project that helps improve any aspect of education for students, teachers, or schools. Your solution can focus on any subject or learning challenge, and should aim to make learning more fun, accessible, or effective if implemented. Get creative!

Your project can be:

  • An AI-tool or chatbot
  • A web app, mobile app, or a game
  • A plugin or extension
  • Any other software that relates to education

Try to brainstorm real problems you may have noticed students or teachers facing and design your final product with the target users in mind. Remember that the most important factor is impact, not how technical/complex your project is.

What to Submit

On Devpost, please make sure to submit the following:

  • Project or Code Repository
    • GitHub or other code link (deployed website)
    • Please make sure to include any setup instructions if applicable to your project
  • 3-Minute Video Pitch
    • Project name
    • A brief summary of the problem you are solving
    • Your solution and an overview of how it works
    • Who it's built for (target audience)
    • A quick demo or walkthrough
    • Make it engaging!
