  1. I've been messing around with Canva, but I'm finding it rather difficult to use. Does anyone know if the premium (paid) version is more user friendly? Or maybe it's just me - operator error. ๐Ÿ™ƒ I know a few people who have used Fiverr and it seems to be a 50/50 shot at finding someone good.
  2. Developing a really good app is hard enough, but developing one that's focused on healthcare seems like a monumental task. In addition to the regulations you mentioned, it would have to be extremely user friendly so that people who aren't feeling well and might not be thinking clearly could navigate it. Plus, the public has to feel confident in its privacy. Lots of challenges with a healthcare app, but I'm sure you can accomplish it with careful consideration!
  3. Same, and I think I prefer the hands-off approach. Unless they're extremely knowledgeable about the industry, an investor being overly involved could be a hindrance to the startup as a whole.
  4. Where did you find your investors? I don't need seed capital for my business, but it amazes me that new companies are able to find money in the thousands all the way up to the millions in some cases.
  5. Hi, Jackson! Publishing sounds like a fun business, and with so many authors migrating toward indie and smaller publishing houses, you could find great success with it. I don't know that you have to limit yourself to a specific genre, but you might want to start out by publishing your favourite genre since you probably know the most about that one. Just until you get your feet wet, then you can branch out from there.
  6. As there's no downside to it really, I'd say the sooner the better. For anyone who puts it off, it may be because they find it daunting, but I believe the benefits far outweigh any learning curve they may encounter.
  7. This actually made me chuckle because of an experience I had with the last company I worked for. We were doing bulk hiring for a newly-formed department, and while we had more than enough applicants, hardly anyone was getting through. Come to find out, the lady in HR who was in charge of the initial screening was one of those people who just didn't like...people. ๐Ÿ˜‚ We'd all worked with her for so long and had never done a hiring spree like that before, so we never noticed it. What a hassle it was to manually go back through all the applicants she turned away! ByteSpark would have come in handy then.
  8. This is some really handy information, James! I spent most of last summer in Texas learning about the barbecue industry, and now I want to bring what I learned home with a takeaway business. In terms of extra capital, who better to go to than the folks who taught me? Obviously they're in the US, so it never occurred to me to ask them, but now I have a starting point of information to give them. Thanks!
  9. Hey, everyone! I have a business management background, and after an extended trip to the US where I spent some time learning about barbecue, I came home thinking about starting a takeaway business. I don't necessarily want a restaurant per se, but I thought maybe I could cook and offer daily takeaway specials until I'm sold out. Still working out operating costs and the like, but I'm happy to be here to get to know others with the entrepreneurial spirit. ๐Ÿ™‚
