I met with my business mentor this past weekend to discuss fundraising, and since lots of us need help with this area, I thought I'd share what I learned about innovation competitions. If you don't already know, innovation competitions are grants and contracts that are offered by the government to businesses in different sectors. You can find the updated list right here. The competitions change often, so don't lose hope if you don't find anything that fits your particular startup right now. One big tip that I can pass on is to apply as early as possible, because some contracts are decided as the applications roll in, rather than waiting to sift through applications after the deadline.

I'm a fan of Innovate UK and have found loads of useful information on the website. AI is blazing hot right now and is sure to change the work landscape for years to come. I'll give this one a look. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The investors I've worked with have always been more about providing money than anything else. I had no idea that so many investors weren't hands-off. I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

Believe it or not, the government provides some handy information about this topic. I found it valuable when running my own group. My target market was university students, so I advertised around local unis to get my numbers. It worked a treat.
